My film age category

The age category my film is aimed at is a 15 I chose this age category because the film is going to have the following contexts which will be irrelevant to kids at young age because my film is going to be a gangster biopic film production. It is aimed at youthful teenagers who watch this type of genres many may see this in modern day life and understand the context. So this filmed will be aimed at them as they will understand the film relevance and whereas kids may not have experienced this is modern day life and will not understand the context so I had chose this film classification as it is most relevant.

film classifications

I have conducted some research for the rules of classifying a film. The examiners are specialised for a certain sector they do daily views on these films and see which category it is aimed at, before they are release it they rate it. Video games and Pornography submissions are classified into two categories extreme realities. DVD's are watched in the board viewing rooms on plasma screens to reproduce the home viewing experience, so examiners before they release the film view it recreate the effect taken see what affect it has on the audience.

Foreign they have linguistic examiners if there is work which is not spoken in the languages they will hire an interpreter. The examiners have to see the following

  • General context-plot,characters,outline of individual scenes
  • Timing of classification moments, including camera angles, types of shots on and off screen moments
  • Bad language, sex and drug reference
The board will publish it however the distributor may cancel certain scenes and could change the category. This is where I got the following information from, click on the following link below

Film openings I had researched

We had researched films openings in class and the following films I had chosen were Inception,Notorious,Bridget jones diary and never back down.
never back down is an is an action packed dramtic film, the film starts off with an a tiger comig out and turning into a ident. There is a credit sequence where it mentions the followig productions summit entertainment and Mandalay independent pictures also BMP inc production there is a theme music whilst in the early stages of the movie. Then there is a introduction to the key character in the film (Jake Tyler) from this clip it shows an indication of the start of the plot. He is a high school teen who is quite rebellious and hot headed this may relate to the childhood he had as his dad is not here nomore meaning he lets out his frustration and anger.

The ident is legendary pictures, Inception is an action packed, adventure and Sci Fi movie. The production company is Warner Bros, Legendary pictures and Sycony. From this clip we straight away see the main character (Leonardo Di Caprio) in this scene we see he is a lost fugitive who was stranded on a island somewhere and later on in the scene we see he is a masterful skilled thief.

The genre for this is a gangster biopic it is a dramatic biographic life he lives. Where he has an ambition of becoming a pop star, the production company is Fox searchlight from the start of the video it introduces the key characters in the film and gives a clear introduction of the plot.where there is a flash back of his life as a kid and how he grew up to be at the stage he is now

The genre of this movie is a Comedy dramatic Romance at the start of this clip we find the key characters in this clip we get the idea of the plot that her mother is always trying to set her up with men and she has been waiting for the right person. The production companies are by two independent companies; Miramax films and Studio Canal and one major company universal pictures.

Film 4 ident

Film 4 is another low budget production it is quite quirky. It shows a man swigging a pillow from right to left whilst feathers are falling there is a soundtrack in the back. Whilst the women is falling in slow motion and bounces of her bed the logo Film4 comes up and the feathers rise.

Studio canal ident

Studio Canal is a low budgeted company it shows as if you are going through the clouds then the logo Studio Canal comes up also there is a soundtrack in the background of birds tweeting then there is a fade out as you can you see it is not as bold as the major companies such as Warner Bros.

Paramount pictures ident

The second ident I had researched is also a maor production were there is a low volumed soundtrack. Were shooting stars glide through the clouds and go behind the paramount logo in a anti clockwise motion with rocky mountains in the background with misty clouds.

analysis of idents

Here I have analysed a range of idents the first ident I have is one of the biggest production Warner bros. Were a soundtrack starts of the video were lots of buildings are shown which fades out into the bold logo with clouds and a slight fade out towards the end of the clip around it representing how big their brand name is and showing their awarness.

ashleighs cw

The third clip I had looked at by Ashleigh was quite poor in quality in fact the video had no essence of meaning to it. There was not really much editing to it the camera shot and angles were not really great by committing all these mistakes when she was trying to kill the women because of the lack of editing did not really have that effect the only thing she possible did well was actually making the clip even though it was quite was bombard with sheer poor in quality so I would give her a grade D/E.

daniels walker, ashley evans and ben marriot cw

The final and last clip i have analysed was of Daniel Walker, Ashley Evans and Ben Marriot this clip was quite good the mise-en-scene was and the continuity was ok, not the best video I have seen but was good. The close up shots was quite effective the credits on the video helped explain quite a bit about the video. The only fault with this video was the sound it was not really great but that was the downfall however overall I thought it was70% successful so I would give this about a grade c. My overall summary of what I am going to do and not do is present my ideas is trying to find a good host environment where I could shoot my film and find reliable actors. I am also looking to construct good research and planning in the build up to this video and I will try to make sure that I do not cut any characters heads off in the shoot make sure that the camera is carefully focused and also make sure that the sound is good and that the continuity flows well.

jack millars cw

AS Media Coursework - Grade A The second clip I had looked at was Jack Millar’s work which was quite emphatic as you can understand the genre straight away there was a series of different angled shots such as close up shots which was quite effective when he films the part of the gun. The soundtrack was good the mise-en-scene and the continuity flow were great. There was one mistake where there was a slight error where you can hear a noise in the background however it was great and it deserved a level 4.
I have looked at a couple examples of AS Media students’ coursework. The first clip I have looked at was produced by Jenny Jayne Alexander it was great I thought the continuity was good. The mise-en-scene was great, strong and balderdash also there was a range of camera shots which was quite effective. The handheld shots were good the camera was not wobbling. There was one part when her head got slightly cut off and a slight jump cut but that is all the constructive criticism I am going to give however overall I thought it was great and worth a level 4

    Independent and majorfilms

It is a professional film production it is not filmed in a major film industry they are indicated in major film industry they are indicated in the feature of producers artistic ways they are mainly low budget films. The roots of independent films that were resisted the control of trust called the motion picture parents company or Edison trust. Some examples of this are the following films The 400 lows, Apu trilogy and night of the living dead. When MPAA rating system came in and all of a sudden different genres such as horror films were introduced like cannibal holocaust and the Texas chain saw massacre. These are some of the studios which show the films film 4 production, Lions gate films and summit entertainment.

Majors are companies who release a sufficient amount films annually and gets a large proportion of box office shares they are regarded as the six diversified media conglomerates they are usually high budgeted films the top 6 productions are Warner bros entertainment, paramount motion picture groups metro Goldwyn Mayer, RKO pictures, fox entertainment group and Walt Disney motion picture groups. Some of the genres I had linked it to were the following genres were cartoons, gangster and action the first film I had researched was Space jam 1996 cartoon genre cartoon, adventure and comedy the company produced this was Warner bros, Northern lights entertainment and courtside seats production the director was Joe pythka the writers were Leo Benvenuti and Steve Rudnick the staring actors were Michael, Wayne knight and Theresa Randle this was rated at PG. The second major film i had looked at was Scarface (1983) the genres were crime, drama and thriller the director was Brian De Palma the writer was Oliver Stone and the stars casting in this production were Al Pacino, Michele pheiffer and Steven Bauer the production casting this was Universal pictures and the final major film I had looked at was Iron Man 2 (2010) this is an action, adventure and Sci Fi genre the director is Jon Favreau the writers Justin Theroux and Stan lee  and the casting stars were Robert Downey jnr, Mickey Rourke and Gwyneth Paltrow this was a paramount pictures, Marvel entertainment and Marvel studious production. These are some of the genres I have looked at and may consider to use in my own production I think that I need to be a major company because I want to produce an emphatic film because this relates to the type of production I am going for.

    what makes a good blog

These are the blogs I have analysed and reviewed Sam Clarks blog, Daniel, Joe Reade also Kim Bates& Tom Allen. The first blog I have analysed was Sam Clarks, I thought he had clearly constructed his objectives by assigning all his cast members roles and what day they should be shooting the footage and also when they are going to edit it as well. He clearly shows there aims and objectives on their construction page they show various different illustrative ways in their videos and they show this through the context and connotations. Also he had surveyed other people’s thoughts on their videos and views and gave them analytic views to improve their short film sequence they had constructed this on a table which shows clear understanding of where he went wrong and would try to rectify his mistakes and avoid these errors in his final piece. He had clearly shown his understanding in his storyboard for his research then he displayed how many frames he had taken and what shot was used for what effect he associated his location well, script and who was his actors playing the roles he mentioned all his ideas and for all his clips he had feedback to improve next time.

Secondly I analysed Daniels blog it had a more creative innovative look with a creative background and he clearly showing in his videos the representation. Also Daniel shows clear understanding in his planning and research to the interpretation of the film and the different shots used and clearly showing his constructive ideas in his videos.

    http://mediastudiesringwoodfinnd.blogspot.com/

Thirdly I had analysed Joe reads blog which had concise planning and shooting schedule he does this through assigning cast and crew members. He talks about the different shots used and their meaning to develop and understand what they are used for. he has quite a creative mind map of different genres showing he can understand context and showing the different kind of camera rules.

    http://jdreade.weebly.com/1/previous/6.html

Finally I had analysed Kim Bates and Tom Allen clearly the weakest blog however did make some good effort they had done this by identifying the different types of camera shots and brief meanings and he had done a carefully constructive research a brief outline of his preliminary and his evaluating skills whether it was successful or not. He also gives a outline of key tips to use when other people want to shoot their videos. overall i thought that the level 4 blog by Sam Clark and Daniel was quite emphatic as it kept the viewers gauged with the idea of how much constructive ideas and effort they had put in it this clearly shows his understanding of what the criteria covers whereas the Joe Reade blog and the Kim Bates and Tom Allen blog is quite brief only covering subsequent information to a limited amount of analytic views not really showing clear understanding of the level of output what was supposed to be in their blogs.

    my preliminary task

My preliminary had to be a successful scene with one character opening the door and the other sitting down. They had to interact in a short conversation which I think was quite successful by meeting this criteria the two characters which had been filmed in this scene was Karandeep Dhanoya and Rajesh Sharma. My video was based on a comedy love scene which I had planned in a story board and created dialogue on a script the camera man was Rajbir Dubbs my partner and I myself was the sound recorder and editor of this film. The problems I had issued with this were that the characters were quite shy and needed to project their voices more there was a continuity and the misen- en- scene was ok we tried different various shots such as over the shoulder shots and close up shots. There was one fault in camera work were one of the characters head got slightly cut off however I tried my best editing this video the voice projection is quite quick because the characters kept on laughing in every scene and we were struggling for time as this was our third consecutive try making the video. We only had thirty minutes shooting this video so it was quite chaotic so next I time I am going to choose more reliable characters for the roles in my videos also I have learnt to get better voice projection and use more different various shots to get a good continuity flow.

my first look at cloud software

Hi my names Dilwar Rahman this is my first blog post I am a AS Media student i am 16years old studying at Holyhead School Academy. The first things I had to research cloud software to put my work in and add other aspects for planning I had to research different various software such as wix, weebly and blogger. I decided to choose blogger simply because weebly was too simple and did not meet the requirements I had been looking for also the software was to simple and very little quality to the site and I did not chose wix because I chose more substance over style. So I decided to choose blogger because it had an ideal look about it, it met my requirements and had sheer quality.
