This is a life of a gangster who lives in the hood who’s a drug dealer gets killed in the drive by then shows a flash back of his life.

 In our opening sequence our ident will run for a limited amount of time soon as that’s over there will be a fist knocking on the door. The guy will open the door and the drug dealer will deliver a parcel to his hand and as the gangster walks off down the road. A rival gangster member kills him in a drive (gunshot noise) by there will be a fade out then a flashback to his early childhood.

textual analysis research

The genre of my film is a gangster biopic it includes a drug dealing scene where he may lay himself in a load of trouble because of the other gangs in the area known as the (hood) this shows the life a thug lives. I chose to do this because I have been inspired by the following films Notorious, Scarface and Godfather, my main focus was Notorious because it is similar to the film that I am producing all the contextual analysis from these films are related to my film.Click on the Notorious link below

Scarface- I like how they introduce a key character straight away (Scarface) you get the storyline straight away. As he is investigated by the police his actions and being interrogated by the police for his actions showing that he is a typical gangster. You can figure out throughout the scene or watching the film that this is a criminal dramatic thriller.

godfather- In the Godfather scene I like the low key lighting as its effective to the atmosphere the dark colours with dim lights connoting there is a serious atmosphere. There is a tracking shot which seems effective when the Godfather walks to the gentlemen  asking what he would want if he grants the gentlemen this favour. There is a close up shots are effective of Don Corleone(godfather)showing that he is a man of authority and when there is a close up of the gentlemen it looks like he is a domineer of the Godfather. This is all effective I will use different from the three clips I had analysed and use them effectively in my opening scene.

From 1.42-2.18 camera zooms out as the person explains what happened to his daughter, his facial expressions shows his distressing look

The mise-en-scene used in this clip is quite low key lighting creating a serious atmosphere as the room is quite dark.

4.18 The gentlemen mentions something in the godfathers ear implying that it is quite secretive

4.25 A close up shot of the Godfathers face showing his physical stature look he has quite an authoritative figure a quite rugged countenance look. The bow tie with a suit with body guards around him in the same room shows that he is quite high class he is an iconic figurative man people look up to for advice.

My target audience

The ideal consumer my film will be segmented at is teenagers ages between 15-18 the area it will be aimed at is in Brooklyn America.In mainly the ghetto areas the gender i am aiming at is males where there is a low level education an high level of teenage pregnancy. There is a high rate of crime and high level of unemployment mainly working class citizens who experience this thug life everyday they will understand the type of message my film is going to send to them.So the concept of my film will be targeted at them as they will understand the teenage thug life and the type of experiences they may see normally on the streets.
